There is more to colour than just the basic spectral hue (red, blue, yellow etc.). There are two additional components to consider. Tone refers how dark or light the colour as and saturation describes how intense the colour is. Rolex have an amazing command of colours; they know just how much of each characteristic to apply when deciding on what their fancy dials look like. To call this just a pink dial does it no justice. It has very little saturation with a light tone. Add to that the classic “sunburst” finish giving this pink champagne dial a life of its own that is hard to put into words and needs to be seen in person. The sunburst finish rolls around the dial as the watch is moved causing more or less tone radiating from the centre.
Rolex is careful and cautious when producing dials other than white, black, or silver for stainless steel watches. They never seem to manufacture too many of the more exotic hues. Even when there is huge demand for these fancy colours, they’re always rare and always a treat when one shows up in our estate department. We’ve only hand a handful of pink dial Rolex pass through here and this is the first 124200 Oyster 34 we’ve ever had. We estimate this particular colour is seen on less than 10% of production despite the high demand. This isn’t a colour you’re likely to see at any Rolex boutique. The raised 18 karat white gold luminous hour markers and hands are the classic rectangular shape.
The watch was purchased new in the Summer of 2023 and has been carefully worn by a Bill Le Boeuf Jewellers customer in rotation with watches in her collection.
It comes complete with everything delivered from the authorized agent, including the inner/outer box, endorsed warranty card, instructions, and hanging bracelet tags. The uncluttered functional dial with smooth bezel and sporty oyster bracelet make this watch the perfect accessory for an active lifestyle. An adjustable “easylink” allows a 5mm length extension on the bracelet is a handy feature for those hot and humid days.
A super scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, threaded twin lock crown, and a screw-on case back allow for a 100-meter water-resistant rating. There are a few minor scuffs, scratches on the case and bracelet but none are distracting. We are happy to report the watch has never been polished or refinished in anyway.
The 34mm size is the perfect size for the casual look on a woman’s arm. As per usual, Rolex sizing description isn’t as described; by our digital calipers this watch actually measures 33mm diameter making it a little more comfortable still. This size has proven to be very popular, it’s almost always sold out at Rolex agents and is seldom seen in display cases. Being a 2023 model this watch benefits from the Rolex 5-year international warranty good until the summer of 2028. Estate priced at $9,500.00 CAD. Stock #505-00614.
We are always looking to buy your estate pieces including brands such as Rolex, Cartier, Breitling, Tag Heuer, along with gold and diamond jewellery.
