With the price of gold on the rise, it is one of our fears that fabulous pieces like this will be worth more melted down than as beautiful jewellery items. We estimate this wide flexible bracelet is around 40 years old. At that time it contained around $400.00 worth of gold, 15 years ago it contained $1,150 in gold, today is contains over $2,900.00 is just recyclable gold content. If the gold price continues to increase it won’t be long before this bracelet is worth more melted down than it is as a finished piece of jewellery. Here’s another way to look at it; the cost of this bracelet really hasn’t changed too much, it’s the depreciating value of currency due to inflation makes it seem like it costs more.
For thousands of years gold has been the benchmark to which other things have been valued. While a bracelet like this is a decorative accessory, it is truly a passive investment in something of actual value.
