Latest Vintage Piece
Tiffany Elsa Peretti, “Splash” ring, sterling silver, lapis lazuli, 4.4 grams, sz. 4.5. $255.00 CAD. 651-00178
I can’t think of a better gem to pair with bright white sterling silver than royal blue lapis lazuli. The small square tablet stone measures approximately 1 square centimeter, likely weighing around 3.50 carats. The rich colour of the ancient stone really stands out against the silver frame.
Often lapis forms with yellow specs of pyrite and less saturated greyish sections, each lapis is unique in appearance. This one is almost completely blue on the top surface. Only a couple of tiny pinpoint bits of pyrite can be seen and no greyish pale sections. Italian born Elsa Peretti was a jewellery designer who often collaborated with Tiffany producing many unique and memorable designs.
Some of her silver ring designs can still be seen on the Tiffany website with prices starting at $695.00. This “Splash” creation has been retired and is not often encountered on the secondary market.
The smallish size ring measures a 4.5 but could be adjusted larger if needed. It is in excellent condition, the genuine lapis lazuli is perfect, not showing even the slightest scuff (front or back)
