Rolex Datejst II 41mm 116334 diamond dial. $12,000.00 CAD. 505-00656

No one knows exactly now many watches Rolex produce on an annual basis but it is thought they make close to 1 million. The look of a Rolex watch is fairly constant but references come and go every 10 years or so. The Datejust has been around over 80 years and was introduced to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Rolex. Model 116334 s notable for a few reasons. It was the first Datejust to measure larger than 36mm. Larger watches are what people want and Rolex finally supplied a bigger option in 2009 with the Datejust II. The DJ II was only around until 2016 when it was replaced by the Datejust 41. While people snapped up the DJ II, many felt the classic balance of the original 36mm was lost with the thick bezel and bulky case. The replacement model addressed these concerns with a slightly thinner bezel in both smooth and fluted varieties. The case thickness didn’t change much, only 0.3mm thinner but the case edges did, making the newer model on the left appear significantly thinner. Our retired first generation 41mm has the rather uncommon factory supplied diamond hour markers on a rhodium sunburst dial. The exception quality single cut diamonds are secured in 18 karat white gold settings. Our latest estate Rolex has had only one local Barrie owner but only comes with a 2026 Replacement Value Certificate form the Rolex authorized agent who originally sold it new.  It remains in worn but 100% original condition. It has never been refinished or even polished in the slightest way. The solid 18 karat white gold bezel is quite sharp and crisp showing some impact marks and scratches. We can easily refinish/polish the stainless steel case and bracelet removing any scratches, but we always let the next owner decide whether or not to leave it original or tidy it up. For a conservative brand like Rolex this dial offers some sparkle and why not, this is a luxury item. Including our complimentary 1-year warranty this uncommon and retired specification Rolex is estate priced at $12,000.00 CAD. Stock #505-00656.
