Rolex Day-Date II 218206 platinum 41mm. 505-00424

When the Rolex Day-Date debuted in 1956 as the flagship model it ushered in a new benchmark for what a luxury watch looked like. As the automatic chronometer movements received updates over the years the tedious day/date setting procedures gave way to quick set and double quick set mechanisms. Scratch-prone plastic crystals were replaced with superior sapphire lenses. Countless different dial options have come and gone. Hollow bracelet links are now solid with wear-reducing ceramic bushings. Simple interference clasps now lock with spring-loaded mechanical precision, but the basic look has never changed. For over 50 years every Day-Date left the Rolex factory measured 36mm in diameter. In 2008 Rolex shocked the watch world when they introduced a 41mm version called the Day-Date II. Five millimeters may not sound like much, but on the wrist, a 36mm versus 41mm couldn’t feel or look any different. The 41mm Day-Date II featured the single-generation calibre 3156 that was only ever used in this model. Produced just 7 years the DDII remains a rarity and is seldom seen on the secondary market. It was replaced with the Day-Date 40 that measured (you guessed it) 40mm. A change in the size of just 1mm diameter (2.5%) seems almost pointless but Rolex determined the 41 was a little bulky and started production in 2015. The Day-Date 40 appears almost identical in dimension to the 41mm Dat-Date II. Our Day-Date II is very special because it was constructed from rare and extra-dense platinum. If you’ve ever seen a platinum Rolex chances are it had the Ice Blue dial. The only way to get the pale Ice Blue dial is to buy a platinum Rolex. The original owner opted for a more subtle and rare matt finish black stealth dial. To most people, this watch looks like any other Rolex-styled watch. Only those in the loop would recognize this as a Rolex and fewer still would realize it’s platinum. That is until you hold it. A white gold Day Day 40 weighs an impressive 217 grams while the platinum version weighs a whopping 281 grams. This watch is completely original and has never been polished or refinished in any way. It was lightly worn by a long-time collector customer of Bill Le Boeuf Jewellers who occasionally wore it in rotation with several dozen other watches in his collection. It exhibits very minor scuffs and scratches but is in overall excellent condition. The full length 24 link President bracelet shows no stretch or sag of any kind. This watch does not come with any of its original packaging or documentation. The watch is running great and keeping excellent time. We are happy to supply the new owner with a complementary 1-year warranty. Stock #505-00424.

0.65ct. SI1-G Sirius Polar Bear Canadian princess cut diamond 3.4gr. plat. solitaire $2,660.00 CAD. 101-00404

The long-extinct Polar Bear Diamond is being resurrected by the GNWT (government of the North West Territories) which has granted the rights to the Diamonds de Canada company. But the emblem can only be used on 16,000 diamonds, the actual number of polar bears alive in Canada (as of the 2022 announcement). These limited-edition diamonds will share part of their proceeds with GNWT research efforts (for the full story visit the GNWT’s website). This 0.65-carat Sirius Ideal Princess Polar Bear Diamond is from the original offering in the early 2000s and displays the intense brilliance and sparkle that only exacting cutting standards can produce. It’s laser inscribed with a NWT government tracking number, a serial number, and the tinniest polar bear you’ll ever encounter. The diamond is an eye-clean SI1 clarity and strong G colour. It’s accompanied by a generic Polar Bear diamond brochure detailing the history and story of the project. The diamond crowns a timeless platinum solitaire engagement ring that currently measures a finger size 5 3/4. The estate price for this like-new piece of Canadian diamond history is $2,660.00 CAD. 0.50ct. I-G diamond solitaire with wedding ring $1,960.00 CAD. 101-00162 e10401

No need to worry about finding a matching wedding ring or having to get one custom made with this white gold solitaire. The 0.50 carat diamond ring comes ready to go with a matching diamond set wedding ring fitted perfectly to the subtle contours of the engagement ring. The rather petite size 4.5 white gold set weighs 5 grams and is in great condition looking like new with no wear on the claws. A sturdy 4 prong double gallery setting showcases a bright, lively G colour round brilliant cut diamond. The diamond measures a full 5.3mm diameter giving it a slightly larger footprint than most half carat diamonds. With a few scattered salt and pepper type inclusions we’re calling the clarity a conservative I1. Many would call this diamond a SI2 but we tend to have tougher standards than some of the documents we see. Included with sale is a certificate of appraisal from July 2009 stating the diamond is estimated to weigh 0.52 carats with a SI2 clarity and G colour. Our onsite goldsmiths are able to adjust the size larger if required in just a few days. Estate priced as a two piece set only for just $1,960.00 CAD. Stock #101-00162 e10401.

0.61ct. SI1-H good cut brilliant cut natural diamond $1,000.00 CAD. 191-00123

Even though a laboratory-grown diamond is worth around 95% less compared to a natural diamond of the same quality, I find myself attracted to mother nature’s creations. How such a beautiful little object can be created over millions of years deep within the earth is truly a miracle. By natural standards this example is of very nice clarity, colour, cut, and carat weight. Nothing remarkable, but an excellent value given the pricing of cheap (and getting cheaper) synthetic alternatives. This diamond has a wide 5.55mm footprint that makes it a suitable candidate for a ring, pendant, or we can find you another to make into a great pair of earrings. Strong SI1 clarity looks perfect to a naked eye and bright H colour is free from any tint. Good cut adds brilliance and dispersion. This diamond is in perfect condition and estate priced at only $1,000.00 CAD. Stock #191-00123.

2008 Breitling Emergency Mission, like new (complete kit) $5,000.00 CAD (tax included). e13806

We seldom encounter watches more complete than this and in as good a condition as this one; it looks unworn. A watch like this really requires all of its original packaging and documents, and this one doesn’t disappoint. The Breitling emergency is a watch developed for pilots and extreme adventurers. This truly is a serious watch. In addition to the regular features of time, calendar, stopwatch, bezel timer, and tachymeter scale, this watch has an emergency location transmitter build into the case. When the antenna is unscrewed and fully deployed in times of true emergency the transmitter automatically sends out a distress signal on the international aviation distress emergency frequency of 121.5 MHz. The transmitter has a range of up to 400 kilometers depending on the conditions. Aircraft in the vicinity can pick up the signal for up to 48 hours and identify your location in order to coordinate a rescue mission for you. This is not a cool toy or gadgit, it must only be used in times of life-threatening situations. The person responsible for sending the distress signal is also responsible for all costs incurred in the rescue operation. Model A73322 comes with enough extra links to fit a wrist size up to just under 9 1/2 inches. The 46mm watch looks to have only been worn a few times. The highly polished case and bracelet show only handling marks, there isn’t a significant blemish or scratch to be found anywhere. The original briefcase kit is complete with a transmitter tester, booklets, instruction book, instruction CD, chronometer certificate, screwdriver for changing batteries in the tester, and endorsed warranty document (La Swiss Toronto April 2008). The high capacity battery was replaced a couple of years ago and the watch is running perfectly with all functions operating as designed. Estate priced at $5,000.00 CAD (tax included). Stock #e13806. Chronoswiss Chronoscope regulator dial CH1523 $3,980.00 CAD. e11639

You’ve got a Rolex, maybe an Omega or Breitling too, but I bet you don’t have a Chronoswiss in your collection. In fact unless you’re really into luxury Swiss mechanical watches I doubt you’ve even heard of this tiny manufacturer from Lucerne Switzerland. They’ve only been around since the early 1980s but they have a dedicated following of clients who appreciate the art of complicated mechanical watches. It was a bold move for company founder and master watchmaker Gerd-R. Lang to establish a company building exclusively mechanical timepieces. The 80s were a time when many traditional Swiss brands effectively went out of business. Sometimes the only thing left of any value were the old brand  names that companies like the Swatch Group purchased for next to nothing. Chronoswiss has remained fiercely independent bucking the industry trend for brand consolidation. Our latest estate watch is a nod to the “regulator display”. The hour hand, minute and seconds hand each rotate around a different display within the main dial. The minute hand rotates around the centre of the dial like a traditional watch, the hour hand uses a completely dedicated smaller dial with Roman numerals at 12:00 o’clock and the seconds hand rotates around a dial indexed exclusively for seconds at the 6:00 position. If that wasn’t enough the slick movement also incorporates a single button 60 second stopwatch. The watch nerd will be pleased that in Chronoswiss tradition the Chronoscope CH1523 is fitted with display window pressure fit into the screw on case back. This window displays for all to see the complicated column wheel movement. For a 38mm watch it wears larger than the size suggests as it’s mostly dial with only a thin coin edge bezel. The watch was just servied May 2020 and is running better than new showing an accuracy rate of just plus 1 second per day as measured show on this vibrograf printed report. A new padded black leather strap with signed buckle was recently installed along with the perfect condition made in U.S.A, brown alligator strap on deployement buckle. Comes in attractive presentation box along with a Bill Le Boeuf Jewellers one year warranty. Estate priced at $3,980.00 CAD. Stock #e11639.
