The popularity of all things Rolex GMT continues with every model they make. Stainless steel GMT-Master II watches are still among the most difficult to find at Rolex agents. When nice used ones turn up second hand, they have asking prices close to twice retail. It’s still a crazy market for certain luxury watch brands, far more demand than supply has many used watches selling for much more than new ones. The Tudor GMT 79833MN was once selling for more than retail on the secondary market but prices have eased quite a bit for this model. Our latest Tudor GMT is in 100% original condition and was only lightly worn by a customer of Bill Le Boeuf Jewellers. It was only occasionally used in rotation with other watches from his collection. The condition is almost like new, there are only a few scratches on the deployment buckle; the case remains in new condition. It has never been polished or refinished in any way. In addition to offering the basic 3 hand timekeeping function with a calendar, the GMT has a few tricks up its sleeve. The diamond-shaped tipped thin hour hand can point to a second time zone shown in a 24-hour format displayed on the black/brown bezel. The traditional hour hand (local time) can be set independently of the 24-hour 2nd-time zone hand without disturbing the actual time. This handy feature is perfect for the world traveler when moving back and forth through different time zones. The rotating bezel can be turned to temporarily display a 3rd time zone. Daytime hours are shown in brown and nighttime hours are displayed in black on the bezel. The 41mm stainless case is water-tight to 100 meters, protected by a screw-down crown and case-back. Large hands and hour markers contribute to excellent legibility in any lighting condition courtesy of highly luminous pigment. The snowflake hands, aluminum bezel insert, and connected minute track on the dial give the Tudor GMT an attractive vintage appearance. Comes complete with everything originally supplied when purchased from the Tudor authorized agent in January 2023. This watch is covered under the terms of Tudor’s 5-year international warranty until early in 2028. If you are turning 40 this year or you know a special person who is, this would make an amazing gift to commemorate the milestone. Get some while you can. Gold is on a tear, who knows where it will end up. Since gold bullion like this is not terribly rare or too collectible the value is simply determined by the intrinsic gold value and not so much the condition. As a bonus this one is quite nice and comes with a protective plastic capsule (not pictured). Royal Canadian Mint gold and silver coins are world renowned for their high quality and purity. RCM was the first mint in the would to produce a coin of 99.9% purity in 1979. They did in again in 1983 producing a gold coin of even higher 99.99%. Today they even produce some special edition coins of a remarkable 99.999% purity. 999 and 9999 coins are an easy way for the average person to invest in some gold bullion. In January 1979 gold was trading for around $225.00 USD per ounce. By early 1980 it had shot up to $850.00 USD. Not a bad return if you timed the market correctly. If you bought gold a few months after the 1980 high at $500.00 USD it would have taken you around 25 years to get your money back when in 2005 it broke through the $500.00 barrier again. Now in 2025 gold is well over $3,300.00 USD. What does all this mean? There are plenty of theories out there and one thing is for sure, the world is a much more complicated place than it was the last time gold really spiked. There are billions of people around the world who have little faith or trust in paper money and the insurmountable debt it represents, but gold has been a way to store value. Inflation only makes gold more valuable while your cash becomes less valuable every day. It’s not a bad idea to hold some of this precious metal as an alternative to cash. The Rolex Sky-Dweller is far more than just a bulked up DateJust. The familiar styling features of the Datejust are certainly plain to see, but what’s inside the jumbo 42mm Oyster case is something that sets the Sky-Dweller apart from any other Rolex that has come before. This watch incorporates has a clever calendar mechanism that knows how many days each month has. Once you’ve made the adjustment for the month of the year indicated by a red highlight at the end of the corresponding hour marker and the day of the month as indicated by the traditional Rolex magnifier crystal, that’s it. In this image the end of the 10:00 market is red meaning the 10th month (October). Once set the watch automatically makes adjustments for each month that doesn’t have 31 days. This annual calendar only needs corrected at the end of February (whether or not it is a leap year). On top of this complicated feature the watch also can display a second time zone shown by the inverted red arrow on the 24 hour wheel off centre in the dial. The in house developed Rolex calibre 9002 now offers an extra long 3 day power reserve with a claimed accuracy of plus/minus around 2 seconds per day! All the regular Rolex features are present in this new model. Threaded crown, threaded case back, super tough lab-grown sapphire crystal, and the latest in luminous pigment to provide legibility in the dark. Rolex call their newest glowing material “Chromalight”, it is said to initially glow less bright but outlasts luminova in the time that it will phosphoresces. The eerie blue colour lets you know you’re looking at Chromalight and not the previous generations green glowing pigment. The starburst finish black dial in combination with the Oyster bracelet is a combination we haven’t had before. The sporty Oyster bracelet in combination with the black dial should have you covered for any situation, from black tie event to t-shirt and jeans. That’s the beauty of the “Datejust look”, they an infinitely versatile and timeless look. Incorporated into the locking buckle is a 5mm extension that can easily fold away without the need for tools. Rolex call it the “Easylink” and it’s a great feature for those hot and humid days when a little extra room is nice to have. Our latest estate Rolex was previously owned by a collector customer of ours who only wore the watch a couple of times. There is no evidence of use aside from handling, not even the slightest scratch or scuff worth mentioning. Needless to say the watch has never been polished, refinished or touched up in any way. It shows like new and is working flawlessly. The factory supplied 5 year warranty will cover the next owner until late in September of 2029. Like many popular Rolex models, Sky-Dwellers are difficult models to find and are in high demand. They are on perpetual backorder with Rolex agents.
