Surviving the quartz crisis of the 1970s left Omega a much different company than it had been before the advent of the modern electronic era. If you wanted to compete with Japanese watches, companies like Omega needed to produce less expensive gold plated quartz watches. This De Ville was right on point for the fashions and trends in the 1980s. Just 5.4mm thin, this is a dressy watch with day to day utility and an ultra accurate, efficient, reliable, fully jewelled quartz movement.
This is a very rare De Ville 6340.23 from 1988. We never see these anymore, especially in this condition. The heavily gold plated case (20 microns) shows only light surface scratches, there is no base metal showing through anywhere on the 30mm x 30mm cushion shaped case.
The clean white dial offers excellent legibility with printed Roman numerals marking the hours. An outer minute track, calendar display and seconds hand add some useful function to the dressy design. The integrated two tone bracelet is infinitely flexible thanks to the small “beads of rice” style. A clever design sliding buckle keeps it length down while incorporating the link pattern across the back of the clasp.
The locking buckle can be released by pushing a discreet button on the edge.
This watch is 100% original, it has never been polished or touched up in any way. The lab-grown sapphire crystal is in perfect condition, displaying not even the smallest scuff or blemish. Swiss quartz technology is really amazingly reliable, we believe the 6 jewel calibre 1430 (ETA 255.411) has never been serviced.
The watch may have sat unused for a decade or two but it appears the movement has never been taken out of the case for service. The gold plated hands show no signs of removal, often there is slight evidence of tool marks on the movement screws if they are removed for service. The condition of this De Ville is as good as it gets for a plated Omega of the era. Comes with an excellent condition vintage Omega box, instructions, and wallet.
We just installed a fresh high quality silver oxide cell, the new battery should keep this watch on time for the next couple of years. When it comes time for replacement, the circuit inside will let you know when the battery is running low on power. When you start to see the second hand pause for 5 seconds before catching up, it is time to replace the battery. We are happy to supply the next owner with a 1-year warranty. Estate price $1,000.00 CAD. Stock #510-00117.
Sometimes the simplest of designs can convey the most meaning. Not much to say here except this stencil text must have been cut with a laser to get this sort of precision. The disc measures just 14.7mm diameter but is easily read thanks to the highly reflective surface polish and negative space where the letters have been cut away.
It is suspended from the popular style cable link necklace measuring 18 inches in length. The flat polished links provide some sparkle as the pendant slides and the chain rolls. A large spring ring clasp makes getting it on and off quite easy.
Naturally made it Italy to a high standard with excellent finish. The chain and pendant weigh 1.49 grams and comes in our blue presentation box. A gift like this is sure to have far more sentimental value than actual monetary cost. Looking like it was never worn and estate priced at $245.00 CAD. Stock #436-00136.
At what point does a watch cease to be comfortable and more of a chore to wear and enjoy on a day to day basis? When you increasingly select your leather strap model or the more moderate case sized watch instead of that monster plus size, you’ve subconsciously made the decision for yourself. When the Omega Planet Ocean was introduced in 2005 Bill Le Boeuf Jewellers were authorized agents for the brand. We thought they were crazy showing a watch of such massive (for the time) 45.5mm case size. For today’s styles it fits right in especially when some brands are showing watches pushing 50mm. This example is the slightly smaller but still large at 42mm diameter.
The Planet Ocean was the first significant redesign of the Seamaster line since the immensely popular “James Bond” series debuted in 1993. At the time the Planet Ocean cost almost 75% more than a standard Seamaster chronometer.
Today Planet Oceans are a core item for Omega showcasing their proprietary co-axial escapement in every model. This unique mechanical innovation is said to be more accurate than a traditional forked lever escapement while maintaining better accuracy over significantly longer service intervals.
These originals Planet Oceans were available with an orange bezel/orange numbers, just orange numbers or like our 2201.50.00 example all black. This was the most subdued and traditional in look with style elements inspired from Seamasters of the 1960s.
It was purchased in June 2010 at Birks Jewellers. The watch has been exceptionally well cared for over the years and appears to sport its original factory finish.
There are scuffs and scratches on the case, bracelet and buckle but nothing deep or significant.
We’ve elected to leave it original, if you’d like it to look like new we can refinish it in just a day or two. Bright luminous hour markers and hands glow brightly in low light situations, while an anti-reflective crystal coating keeps glare down to a minimum.
Comes with the original inner/outer boxes, instructions and warranty cards all in like new condition.
Original Planet Oceans are seeing good appreciation lately. Just like the James Bond Seamaster of the 1990s, very good to excellent 1st series Planet Oceans are selling for more than their original prices. The new owner will benefit with a no charge one year warranty from Bill Le Boeuf Jewellers covering all aspects of the original Omega warranty excluding damage caused by misuse or moisture. When last available this model sold for $4,500.00 USD. Our estate price $5,000.00 CAD. Stock #510-00212.

The wildly popular Rolex 126710BLRO GMT “Pepsi” blue/red GMT-Master II has a suggested retail price of $14,400.00 CAD. If you’re looking for a better price in the secondary and used market, you’re in for a surprise. Asking prices for brand new or like-new examples have asking prices close to twice that of retail. It’s currently a crazy market for certain luxury watch models, far more demand than supply has some used watches selling for much more than new ones.
The Tudor GMT 79830RB was once selling for more than retail on the secondary market but prices have eased quite a bit for these models. Our latest Tudor GMT is in original condition and was only lightly worn by a customer of Bill Le Boeuf Jewellers. The watch also comes with a decent quality generic “jubilee style” stainless steel bracelet complete with flip-lock and extension link.
It fits the contour of the 41mm case perfectly, looking like it was delivered from the factory with the dressier jubilee style. It also comes with a nylon blue/red NATO and blue rubber strap with stainless steel tang buckles.
The original Tudor brown leather strap and deployment buckle are in hardly worn excellent condition, complete with protective plastic sticker attached. The watch is in very good original condition showing small scuffs, light scratches and minor impact marks. The fine beveled edge on the lugs still retains their crisp edges. It has never been polished or refinished in any way. In addition to offering the basic 3 hand timekeeping function with a calendar, the GMT has a few tricks up its sleeve. The diamond-shaped tipped red hour hand can point to a second time zone shown in a 24-hour format displayed on the blue/red bezel.
The traditional hour hand (local time) can be set independently of the 24-hour 2nd-time zone hand without disturbing the actual minutes and seconds. This handy feature is perfect for the world traveler when moving back and forth through different time zones. The rotating bezel can be turned to temporarily display a 3rd time zone. Daylight hours are shown in red and nighttime hours are in dark blue. The 41mm stainless case is water-tight to 100 meters, protected by a screw-down crown and case-back. Large hands and hour markers contribute to excellent legibility in any lighting condition courtesy of highly luminous pigment.
The snowflake hands, aluminum bezel insert, connected minute track, and jubilee style bracelet give the Tudor GMT an attractive vintage appearance. Comes complete with the original inner/outer boxes and warranty card fully endorsed by an authorized Ontario Tudor agent.
This watch is covered by our 1 year warranty. Every functions is operating as designed and the watch is keeping excellent time. This popular Tudor is estate priced at $4,000.00 CAD. Stock #505-00539.
