2019 Tudor Black Bay 41 Diver two-tone champagne 79733N $4,800.00 CAD. 505-00528

A champagne dial divers watch is a little usual and we love it. Almost every diver watch comes with a black , blue, or sometimes white face. The sunburst champagne on this Tudor is a sophisticated mature look that really grows on you. The yellow trim of the bezel, crown, and bracelet enhances the luxury look, but this still performs as a serious divers tool. Once we saw this combination in person we quickly changed our opinion of what a divers watch could look like. It’s retro/vintage in spirit but don’t be fooled, the Black Bay diver series are of thoroughly modern specification. The crystal looks like a plastic dome design from decades ago, when in fact it has been ground from super tough and scratch-resistant lab-grown synthetic sapphire. It offers exceptional hardness and perfect optical properties day or night. The threaded crown and case-back provide a conservative water resistance rating of 200 meters. Beating within the 41mm stainless steel case is Tudor’s in house designed and manufactured MT5612 automatic winding movement. The 26-jewel mechanism secured inside sets the bar for certified chronometer accuracy levels at this price point. There isn’t much else on the market offering a 70-hour power reserve, plus a useful calendar that doesn’t cost substantially more. Its silicon hairspring and balance wheel are almost identical to what Rolex use. The exotic material these components are made from are far more stable when exposed to high magnetic fields and shocks. The classic champagne dial may look a little bit old fashion but seen in person the look is a winner. The sunburst finish and neutral hue are easy on the eyes and blend with any casual outfit. This watch was worn intermittently in rotation with other watches owned by the previous owner. Is has not been polished or refinished before. There are very minor scuffs and scratches on the case and bracelet but nothing significant. Canadian delivered to a Tudor authorized authorized agent in the summer of 2019. This very good condition Black Bay is still available new from Tudor and shows a price of $9,570.00 CAD on the Tudor website. Comes with the original inner/outer boxes, instructions, guarantee/chronometer certification booklet, endorsed warranty card, paper product hang tag, and white foam box liner, this watch is estate priced at $4,800.00 CAD. Stock #505-00528.

7.8mm bright-cut ball with 18″ rolo chain, Italian made, 14kt., 3.5gr. $720.00 CAD. 436-00299

It’s not always the complex elaborate designs that catch our eye when it comes to a piece of jewellery for our Vintage Spotlight. We certainly didn’t plan on this simple ball pendant to showcase but there is something about it that grabs your attention. The highly polished and bright-cut sphere sparkles like the world’s tiniest disco ball. No front or back to the sliding rolling pendant, just a 7.8mm ball machine engraved with incredible precision. Each of the flat surfaces twinkles with the slightest movement. The 18 inch rolo style necklace also has been given the bright-cut treatment as each link has 4 microscopic flat beveled sections. They are imperceptible individually, but collectively they add to the overall visual impact. Of course a precisely manufactured item like this was crafted in Italy. The necklace is secured by a sturdy lobster clasp. This item is in like new condition and has never been polished, the factory applied rhodium finish is fully intact. The pierced ball pendant slides effortless over the rounded links and will always stay perfectly centred. Add some effortless sparkle to you day with this necklace/pendant set for the estate price of $720.00 CAD. Stock #436-00299.

2000 Rolex Submariner “Bluesy” 16613 40mm. $14,500.00 CAD. Stock #505-00626

The Rolex Submariner 16613 from the late 1980s until around 2010 is a modern classic if ever there was one. The “bluesy” as it’s affectionately known is perhaps the most striking among a sea of conservatively coloured Rolex sports models. It’s that vivid royal blue dial and bezel framed in rich 18 karat yellow gold that will stop you in your tracks when you pass by our showcase. It’s not for everyone but if you’re going to wear a Rolex, why not have one that makes a statement. It’s pretty easy to make a case for the value of one of these compared to the common all steel 16610 Submariners that have selling prices pretty much exactly the same. With a bluesy you get are far more uncommon watch with that amazing sunburst blue dial, some premium 18 karat gold trim, and the identical specifications when it comes to diver credentials. You get a watch good for 300 meters, one way timer bezel indexed for 30 second increments, lab grown sapphire crystal, divers wetsuit extension, fliplock buckle, calendar, and bright luminous hands/markers the same as the steel version. This example dates from 2000 according to its P series serial number. The year 2000 features a few significant upgrades over the previous years and 1 important carryover. For the new millennium Rolex focused on upgrading the Oyster link bracelet. The buckle received a laminated stripe of 18 karat gold across the previous all steel buckle. The added gold stripe blended the buckle into the bracelet much better. End links attaching the bracelet to the case were now solid machined pieces rather than light stamped components. Finally the divers extension features solid links that cleverly lock into the buckle cap and can’t accidentally come open like the old version did. The 40mm Oyster case still features spring bar holes going all the way through the lugs making the bracelet easier to remove should you wish to swap for a leather or rubber strap. The “holes case” while old school is a more secure method to connect the bracelet to the case. If you saw how much actual spring bar extends into the case on a newer “no hole” case you’d understand exactly why these offer better security. This watch is in very good condition. It shows little sag in the bracelet and the embossed Rolex coronet on the buckle still shows excellent relief despite being over 20 years old. It has been lightly worn and shows only minor scratches and scuffs. The lab-grown sapphire crystal is 100% scratch and nick free. These crystal sits just over the bezel and can be subjected to impacts causing small chips along the edges, we’re happy to report this one is perfect. The dial, hands, and markers are also perfect and blemish free. Rolex retired these watches two generations ago and now make a ceramic bezel version that is 1mm larger  at 41mm. The new version ($23,950.00 CAD) 126613LB is great but somehow is not as bright as the vintage anodized bezels from the 16613 era. This watch does not come with original documentation or packaging, but it does come with our 1-year warranty and Bill Le Boeuf Jewellers travel shell. Estate priced at $14,500.00 CAD. Stock #505-00626.

Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph blue ceramic CBM2112-0 41.5mm. $3,100.00 CAD. 520-00178

The Tag-Heuer Carrera and Porsche Carrera are both pinnacle products for each brand. TAG Heuer’s Carrera line was part of a great race in the mid-1960s to develop the first automatic winding chronograph. Heuer partnered with Breitling and Hamilton to face off against Zenith. Together they launched their Calibre 11 six months before Zenith’s El Primero hit the market. The caliber 11 was shown in a line of automatic chronographs that debuted in Geneve and New York. The launch included TAG’s Carrera, Autavia, and Monaco models. The original Carrera itself was designed and launched in 1963 by Jack Heuer as the first chronograph (not yet automatic) specifically designed for professional drivers. He was inspired by La Carrera Panamericana Mexican Road Race; one of the most famous events in auto racing history running only from 1950-1954. Porsche competed in the grueling Mexican race and won its class in 1952. The name Carrera is reserved for Porsche models of special high performance specification and race developed models. Our latest Carrera is a sporting watch that keeps the tradition of high performance mechanical timekeeping with an analogue stopwatch feature. The stopwatch registers are distinguished by the bright orange tips on the hands for hours, minutes, and seconds. The start/stop pusher button is also highlighted with and orange band. This is our first Carrera to feature a blue dial with a super hard and resistant ceramic tachymetre bezel scale. The sharp edged bezel has historically been made of stainless steel that is prone to getting dents and dings as it sits outside the case diameter. This design should fend off the pesky impact marks. The sunburst blue dial with silver register rings is very attractive, seeing some colour on a Carrera is welcome as most we see are black. This watch is in lightly worn original condition showing only minor scuffs and light scratches on the case and bracelet. If you’d like a current edition blue ceramic Carrera, it is shown on the Tag Heuer website for $8,950.00. Our lightly worn Carrera comes with its warranty card (not dated), instructions, and packaging. The watch is running great and keeping excellent time. Included with purchase is our complimentary 1-year warranty. Price is $3,100.00 CAD. 520-00178.
