1961 Rolex Oyster Chronometer ref:1012, 36mm ***RARE*** $14,000.00 CAD. Stock #505-00644

An 18 karat gold Rolex is a bucket list wish for many watch aficionados. When one thinks of a gold Rolex the usual image is that of the iconic Oyster Day-Date, likely with a President bracelet. This vintage Rolex isn’t that watch, in fact it doesn’t have a day of the week display, or even a day of the month calendar feature, and comes with a basic leather strap. This is the ultra rare 36mm reference 1012 Oyster Chronometer. This is a watch we’ve never encountered before and we didn’t know such a watch even existed. Its existence is raises the question, why Rolex would make such a watch, who the original owner was, and what was their thought process deciding on such a simple model. 5-years prior to when this watch was manufactured Rolex introduced the famous Day-Date model. It was the first watch to display the day of the week written out in full. The Day-Date was a great success and to this day is considered the flagship in the Rolex lineup. While this model still contains a highly developed chronometer grade automatic movement, bosting the same guarantee of accuracy as the Day-Date, it does so with much less fan fair. It comes with a smooth bezel instead on the sparkling fluted bezel seen on almost all vintage Day-Date models. Outwardly simple but made from premium 18 karat yellow gold and measuring the same 36mm case size as the Day-Date. Back in the early 60s I have to assume almost everyone buying a 36mm Oyster Rolex crafted from 18 karat would opt for the flashier Day-Date, and if we’re being honest with ourselves being a little flashy is part of the Rolex appeal. We spent a lot of time looking for comps to this rare 1012 Rolex with little success. To say this watch is illusive would be an understatement. We found close to 700 Day-Date models from the same era (reference 1803) but only two examples like our reference 1012 on the popular watch marketplace Chrono24.com. We feel ours is perhaps the most original currently on offer. We love the unique faceted arrowhead hour markers, pointy hands and especially the lollypop tail on the seconds hand. The overall condition of the watch is good, showing minor thinning of the lugs, very slight spotting on the dial, with darkened tritium lume pigment. The Rolex calibre 1530 powering this rare watch is considered a genuine workhorse among Rolex movements. Few were adjusted and regulated to chronometer accuracy requirements due to the difficult and time consuming process of poising the balance by adjusting the many screws in the wheel rim. The 1500 series of movements are the very first movements created entirely in house by Rolex watchmakers and served the brand into the late 1980s. The simplicity of the Rolex 1012 has left us captivated by its less is more approach to basic timekeeping. The classic champagne sunburst dial blends perfectly with the rich hue of the premium 18 karat yellow gold alloy. We fitted a brand new quick release, Hirsh, chocolate brown alligator grain leather strap, that suits the dressy nature of the watch very well. With only a quick passing glance you may think this could be a vintage Patek Philippe Calatrava; but make no mistake, this is a Rolex through and through albeit a model you likely didn’t know even existed. We are happy to provide the next owner with a complimentary 1-year warranty. It does not come with any original documentation or packaging. Estate price $14,000.00 CAD. Stock #505-00644.

2015 Rolex Datejust II 41mm 116300 (retired model) $11,300.00 CAD. 505-00601

It took Rolex over a century years to make a basic dress watch bigger than 36mm, when in 2009 they introduced the Datejust II. I guess great mills really do grind slow, but 100 years? Rolex has always had sporty 40mm offerings but a larger more conservative design just didn’t exist until the Datejust II. A simple dial with time and date display but now measuring a full 41mm. Bigger than a Submariner, bigger than a Daytona. In fact it looks much much bigger than both because there is no thick bezel compressing the area of the dial. I’m sure there are many people who would have bought a Rolex, but the traditional conservative 36mm size just isn’t what some were looking for. Thicker hands, bigger markers with lots of luminous material makes the watch much more functional and visible in all lighting conditions. Our estate example has only been lightly worn by its previous owner. Purchased in Toronto November 2015 there is only minor evidence of any use. If the warranty card wasn’t already dated and filled out you’d swear it was only a few months old.  It comes with everything from the original delivery; inner/outer boxes, warranty card, instructions, chronometer tag, wallet etc. all in perfect condition. This model has been retired for a few years now, replaced by the slightly more conservative Datejust 41 126300. The new model has more “size appropriate” hour markers and a slightly thinner bezel. Both models are beautiful in their basic approach to simple timekeeping but there is something about the original design that we find more appealing; maybe it’s because you can no longer get them new. The Datejust II was only made for  7 years when is was retired and replaced by the Datejust 41. Despite being a relatively modern Rolex the basic all steel DJII ref:116300 is nowhere near as common as the DJ41 ref:126300. As of today (Feb. 28, 2026) Chrono24.com is only showing 179 complete examples of DJIIs compared to 2271 DJ41s and Rolex is still producing many more every day. Given the relative scarcity of the Datejust II and a slightly lower price, we feel this is a much better model to spend a bit of money on. This excellent example is running great and keeping excellent time. We are happy to provide the next owner with a complimentary 1-year warranty. Estate priced at $11,300.00 CAD. Stock #505-00601.

Vintage Gucci 1500 12.2mm bangle style, like new. $400.00 CAD. 501-00436

The House of Gucci has been around since 1921, starting off as producers of luxury leather goods. From bamboo handled hand bags to the red and green striped logo on watches dials and accessories, the Gucci brand is one of the world’s most well known. Vintage Gucci has been far more popular than we could have ever imagined. The interchangeable bezel watches of the 90s sell within days when we spotlight one on our website. This elongated rectangular bangle style model 1500 is another classic from 20-30 years ago. This example is as close to perfect as they come. There is almost no evidence of use except for the most insignificant scuffs and scratches on the flat surfaces. We really don’t think this watch has been worn more than a handful of times. Even the fold-over locking buckle is virtually blemish free. The high quality, fully jewelled Swiss quartz movement inside the 12mm wide case is running flawlessly. When we opened up the watch to install a fresh, high capacity silver oxide battery, we were surprised to see what we believe was the original cell still in place after more than 20 years. We suspect the watch was only used for special occasions for a few years. After the original battery expired it was left in a jewellery box until we acquired it. This would explain its like new condition. There is still a protective case back sticked in place. The watch does not come with any original documentation or packaging. The solid link hinged bangle bracelet is a small size measuring a little over 6 1/4 inches; this watch is only going to fit a lady with a slender wrist. We are please to include a 1 year warranty for the next owner. Estate priced at $400.00 CAD. Stock #501-00436.
