2005 Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600 39.5mm, box, extension, dive tables etc. $11,500.00 CAD. 505-00566

When a regular Submariner just isn’t quite up to the task because it’s only watertight to 1000 feet, you need a Sea-Dweller. While it looks almost identical to a garden variety Submariner, it’s actually quite different. The first thing you notice is the absence of a date magnifier over the calendar. The synthetic crystal is much thicker than the standard Submariner, as is the stainless steel case which enables the watch a water resistance rating of an amazing 4000 feet. Located on the 9:00 case edge is a Helium escape valve, something the ordinary Submariner lacks. If you’re living in a pressurized diving bell breathing a mixture of oxygen and helium, your watch will need this escape valve to bleed off the accumulated helium gas as you decompress. This example was manufactured around 2005 according to the “D” serial number. The watch has been worn but worn responsibly. There are no significant areas of wear. The full length Oyster bracelet shows little sag and no stretch.Sea-Dwellers of this era were the most qualified of all Rolex watches and are far rarer than Submariners of the same era. They are the most specialized sports Rolex model. You couldn’t get them with fancy diamond dials or with gold trim, they only come in all business stainless steel with a jet black glossy dial. We don’t have Sea-Dwellers very often so we thought it would be fun to compare it to a Submariner of the era. The bezel on the SD measures 39.5mm in diameter while the Submariner measures 40.1mm. The case of the SD is 14.6mm thick and the Sub measures just 12.9mm. The SD weighs 87.3 grams (head only), Sub weighs 74.3 grams. Sea-Dwellers are the bulldog of the Rolex line; compact, tuff, and they have a bit of an attitude. This watch lacks its original paperwork box but it does come with some Sea-Dweller exclusive accessories. The never installed extra bracelet extension link is accounted for, as is the Buehlmann dive table charts and travel wallet. This most purposeful of any Rolex is working great, keeping excellent time, and comes with a Bill Le Boeuf Jewellers 1-year warranty. Estate priced at $11,500.00 CAD. Stock #505-00566.

11.8mm South Sea pearl & diamond earrings (2.50ct. tw. VS-H) 18kt. gold, 10.8gr. $6,000.00 CAD. 211-00163

A simple pearl earring is an all time classic jewellery item, going from sophisticated to casual with just an outfit change. This amazing pair of pearl earrings takes it to an entirely new level. I think this is the best pair of pearl earrings we’ve ever offered in our estate department. Large South Sea pearls over 10mm diameter are far more scarce than the typical Japanese salt water pearls often used in better quality necklaces and earrings. South Sea pearls can take up to 4 years to form, and only around a third of the harvest is considered round in shape. There are limited areas suitable for this type of pearl farming and they are quite environmentally sensitive. South Sea pearls are rare and valuable in larger sizes of good quality, we don’t see them very often. This well matched set measures 11.8 and 11.9mm diameter, they have a silvery white luster and are virtually blemish free. The pearls have been 1/2 drilled and glued to an 18 karat gold post on the white gold settings. The brown material on the back of the pearl is not dirt but epoxy that has yellowed over the decades since it was assembled. While it’s difficult to say exactly how old this pair is, we think they date sometime from the 1970s. They are surrounded by 28 round brilliant cut diamonds measuring just under 3mm, and have an estimated total weight of over 2.50 carats. The natural diamonds are tightly set using shared claws with minimal stone coverage promoting maximum sparkle from the high quality VS-H stones. Only the best components were selected when crafting these showstopping earrings. A generous amount of 18 karat white gold contributes to a finished weight of 10.8 grams. Thankfully the manufacturer selected a spring loaded “Omega” lever back design to secure them. This pierced ear system distributes the weight better than a simple post with butterfly back. The earrings are in excellent condition showing no wear are tear. Estate priced at $6,000.00 CAD.  Stock #211-00163.

2010 Breitling Chronomat 44mm A13356 (rare mother of pearl diamond dial) $8,500.00 CAD. 515-00106

When jewellery and the art of watchmaking come together you end up with something like this. As far as complicated watches go, this one has that going for it too, with plenty of features to keep the mechanical watch enthusiast entertained. Yes it tells time, has a 12 hour stopwatch, calendar, bezel timer, plus all the other characteristics typical of a high end sports diver watch. But what it does better than almost any other watch we’ve had before is proudly sparkle without compare. The entire case and bracelet shine with a completely polished finish. The 60 minute one way ratcheting bezel timer is set with 40 beautifully full cut diamonds of excellent quality. An expensive optional dial, crafted from natural mother of pearl displays a rainbow of colour, especially in lower lighting. The iridescent exhibition displays subtle shifting pastel shades of pink and greenish blue as the watch is moved. As if the pearl dial wasn’t enough, it has been further enhanced with diamond hour markers bead set in rectangular frames. The factory supplied diamond bezel is something we’ve seen numerous times before, but the diamond accented dial is quite rare and was a rather expensive option when combined with the mother of pearl face. We initially thought only the large hands were treated with luminous material, making time interpretation in the dark difficult. Much to our surprise, after we took an “in the dark” photo we realized the vertical edges of the raised diamond set hour markers had also been treated with a generous amount of glowing pigment. It not only looks great, but it’s a super functional watch for any situation, day or night. This watch doubles as a diamond bracelet that has the added convenience of telling the time too. Excellent overall condition showing only minor signs of use in the form of very shallow scratches on the bracelet and buckle. The high polish finish is very easy to maintain, our talented goldsmiths can eliminate these minor imperfections while you wait if you wish. We believe this watch is completely original and has not been polished or refinished before. Looking at the full length, tight bracelet showing zero stretch and no sag, we are confident this watch was only occasionally worn and remains unpolished. If you wear the watch all the time (and we hope you do) it will surely develop some scratches; just bring it back to us, we can easily restore the bright polished finish the same way we’d polish your rings. Manufactured from 316L stainless steel alloy, it can easily be polished up just like new. The watch was originally delivered in Ontario to an authorized Breitling agent in the Toronto area. It comes with the original fully endorsed warranty documents, diamond certificates, and other paperwork. It also comes with the inner/outer boxes (missing pillow), hang tag, and a 2015 insurance appraisal from Gem Review Inc. suggesting a retail value of $19,500.00. The Breitling modified Valjoux 7750 automatic movement powering this Chronomat is renowned for its reliability and longevity. These movements have a reputation for reliability and longevity, it is common for this mechanism to go 10 years or longer between service intervals. It is keeping great time with all functions operating as designed. This one will get noticed and isn’t designed to be hidden under your cuff. It’s a super capable, supper looking piece of jewellery. Included with purchase is a 1-year Bill Le Boeuf Jewellers Warranty. Estate priced at $8,500.00 CAD. Stock #515-00106.

2.04ct. rubellite & diamond (0.50ct. tw. VS-GH) dinner ring, 4.9 grams, 18kt., sz. 7. $1,980.00 CAD. 206-00590

Bright fuchsia rubellite (pink tourmaline) have been our most popular coloured gemstone in our estate department for a few years now. We find that surprising as blue sapphire are typically the most requested gem, following by ruby and emerald. Maybe it’s the fact that few gems come with this sort of saturation of colour for a price that many people can afford. Finding this sort of colour intensity with sapphires, rubies, and emeralds would cost exponentially more than the rainbow of hues available in tourmaline. This stone is alive with brilliant flashes of pink and purple, courtesy of the checkerboard fancy cushion cut. It measures almost exactly 9mm x 7mm and is estimated to weigh a nice tidy 2.00 carats. The centre rubellite is surrounded by a five segment scalloped edge pinwheel design setting. The five channel set sections contain 43 tapered baguette cut diamonds weighing an estimated 0.50 carats. The high quality VS-GH diamonds are well matched, and expertly set in protective channels. The overlapping design adds a soft finish to the explosion of colour and contrast with the rest of the ring. It has been hand crafted in premium 18 karat white gold. The 4.9 gram ring measures a finger size 7 and can be adjusted up or down as necessary. Included with purchase is a 2004 appraisal from Ricci Fine Jewellery Toronto. The centre tourmaline shows some minor abrasions on the facet junctions of the checkerboard crown but they go unnoticed except under close scrutiny. The rest of the ring is in very good condition showing no areas of wear except the rhodium plating getting thin in sections. A quick rhodium plate will give the 18 karat white gold a brilliant chrome white finish if you wish. This is a lot of colourful sparkle for the estate price of $1,980.00 CAD. Stock #206-00590.

2025 Tag Heuer Aquaracer Solargraph WBP1312 34mm (never worn). $2,250.00 CAD. 520-00173

Tag-Heuer have enjoyed a comfortable presence in the midmarket luxury segment of Swiss watchmaking seemingly forever. They are one of the most recognizable brands with a strong identity and association with motorsports and sporting lifestyles in general. In 2022 they introduced solar powered technology to the popular Aquaracer line of sports watches. The “Solargraph” features a new quartz mechanism co-developed with  La Joux-Perret Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Hidden behind the semitranslucent dial is a solar collector that can efficiently store a days worth of energy with just one minute of light exposure. A full charge is achieved after 40 hours of light exposure that lasts 10 months. The clever design also features a power save mode. When not in the light the movement enters into a power conservation mode, once exposed to light again it comes back to life after about 10 seconds. Tag Heuer say rechargeable power cell should be good for 15 years before needing replacing. That means this watch needs zero maintenance until the year 2040! This watch was given as a workplace presentation gift earlier this year. The recipient isn’t a “watch person” and was never going to wear it. It came to us in perfect unworn condition, still sporting some of its protective delivery stickers on the buckle and bracelet. It measures a popular ladies size of 34mm diameter. The iridescent mother of pearl dial is very pretty offering a subtle display of rainbow colours as the watch is moved. This watch offers all of the regular Aquaracer diver/sports features including a 60 minute one way bezel timer, locking buckle with folding length adjustment link, threaded crown with guard, luminous hands and calendar display. The watch is covered by the Tag-Heuer 2-year warranty that should be able to be extended to 5-years through Tag Heuer’s online registration portal. This model is a current offering on the Tag Heuer website where is retails for $3,250.00 CAD. Our never worn estate example is price $1,000.00 less at $2,250.00 CAD. Stock #520-00173.
