No one knows exactly now many watches Rolex produce on an annual basis but it is thought they make close to 1 million. The look of a Rolex watch is fairly constant but references come and go every 10 years or so. The Datejust has been around over 80 years and was introduced to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Rolex. Model 116334 s notable for a few reasons.
It was the first Datejust to measure larger than 36mm. Larger watches are what people want and Rolex finally supplied a bigger option in 2009 with the Datejust II. The DJ II was only around until 2016 when it was replaced by the Datejust 41. While people snapped up the DJ II, many felt the classic balance of the original 36mm was lost with the thick bezel and bulky case. The replacement model addressed these concerns with a slightly thinner bezel in both smooth and fluted varieties. The case thickness didn’t change much, only 0.3mm thinner but the case edges did, making the newer model on the left appear significantly thinner.
Our retired first generation 41mm has the rather uncommon factory supplied diamond hour markers on a rhodium sunburst dial.
The exception quality single cut diamonds are secured in 18 karat white gold settings. Our latest estate Rolex has had only one local Barrie owner but only comes with a 2026 Replacement Value Certificate form the Rolex authorized agent who originally sold it new.
It remains in worn but 100% original condition. It has never been refinished or even polished in the slightest way. The solid 18 karat white gold bezel is quite sharp and crisp showing some impact marks and scratches.
We can easily refinish/polish the stainless steel case and bracelet removing any scratches, but we always let the next owner decide whether or not to leave it original or tidy it up.
For a conservative brand like Rolex this dial offers some sparkle and why not, this is a luxury item. Including our complimentary 1-year warranty this uncommon and retired specification Rolex is estate priced at $12,000.00 CAD. Stock #505-00656.

Of all the arts, carving has to be the most stressful for the student and even the master. You can always add more paint to cover mistakes and practicing music until muscle memory makes perfect repetition almost second nature. But with carving, it’s pretty hard to recover from the error of removing a bit too much or pushing too hard. Many arts start from nothing and continually add until completion. With carving, it’s all about removing and removing until the subject is revealed.
If anyone feels that jewellery isn’t a true form of art, have a look at these hand carved cameo brooches and necklace. Traditional cameos like these are hand carved from conch shells.
The composition of the natural shell allows a master artist to take advantage of the coloured layering. Cautious and calculated carving can showcase shadows, highlights, and textures in the subject revealing fine details that separate an average carving from an exceptional one.
Remove a little too much and you risk breaking through the shell or cracking it and starting over from scratch. The shell thickness in these examples range from close to 4.5mm to just 1.6mm; thin enough to easily transmit light through.
The karat gold frames are bespoke for each shell as the curvature and dimensions are always a little bit different.
The bezel settings on the two convertible brooch/pendant cameos are decorated further with a twisted rope edging that is often seen on these antique designs.
They both feature a fold away bails for pendant use that remains unseen until needed.
The pin hinges fasten securely with integrated safety clasps.
Without disassembling it’s impossible to determine the exact net weight of gold content of each, but we can estimate with reasonable accuracy they contain 4.2 grams 10kt., 6.7 grams 14kt., and 13.1 grams 14 karat. These iconic jewellery/art items are estate priced at $600.00 231-00398, $1,200.00 231-00407, $3,000.00 CAD 131-00036.
Some of Tag Heuer’s AquaRacers have evolved into very attractive “jewellery” watches over recent years. They were first introduced as a continuation of the very successful 2000 series in 2004. Every Aquaracer provides a rugged platform with serious sporting features. Don’t let the sophisticated silver sunburst dial and two-tone finish fool you.
This watch is still made of the right stuff; able to stand up to any task asked of it. Water resistant to 300 meters, synthetic sapphire crystal, threaded crown/case back, luminous hands, solid link stainless steel locking bracelet with divers extension, and ratcheting timer bezel are the same features offered by the pure tool design AquaRacer models.
It has been responsibly worn by the previous owner and has never been polished or refinished. The heavy gold plating on the bezel and centre link sections remains fully intact; even on the sharp corners there is no stainless steel wearing through. It displays some scratches and scuffs but nothing significant. The sapphire crystal is completely blemish free offering perfect optics and viewing of the silver radial finish dial. At 39mm in case diameter and just 10mm in thickness, model WAF1120 is easy to wear and not too big or bulky.
Tag Heuer still makes a contemporary version of the Aquaracer with with a blue dial and solar powered quartz movement for $5,500.00 which can be seen on their website. Our good condition estate Aquaracer does not come with any original documents or packages. Including a complimentary 1-year warranty and our hard shell travel case this never estate Aquaracer is estate priced at $1,200.00 CAD. Stock #520-00195.
I can’t think of a better gem to pair with bright white sterling silver than royal blue lapis lazuli. The small square tablet stone measures approximately 1 square centimeter, likely weighing around 3.50 carats. The rich colour of the ancient stone really stands out against the silver frame.
Often lapis forms with yellow specs of pyrite and less saturated greyish sections, each lapis is unique in appearance. This one is almost completely blue on the top surface. Only a couple of tiny pinpoint bits of pyrite can be seen and no greyish pale sections. Italian born Elsa Peretti was a jewellery designer who often collaborated with Tiffany producing many unique and memorable designs.
Some of her silver ring designs can still be seen on the Tiffany website with prices starting at $695.00. This “Splash” creation has been retired and is not often encountered on the secondary market.
The smallish size ring measures a 4.5 but could be adjusted larger if needed. It is in excellent condition, the genuine lapis lazuli is perfect, not showing even the slightest scuff (front or back)
. It comes with that iconic drawstring travel pouch for the estate price of $255.00 CAD. Stock #651-00178.
Always wanted a nice Swiss watch? Checked out the price of a new Rolex lately? The most basic gents model in stainless steel now costs $8,950.00 for the 41mm version. If you want one with a calendar display, that adds $2,350.00. Trim it with a solid gold bezel and you’re up to $14,750.00. If you’d like the luxury of a day of the week display, the price rises to $60,800.00 CAD for the 40mm version and it’s only available in solid gold. For under 4% of that cost, we present our latest Swiss estate watch; the Tag Heuer Link Day-Date WJF2050. This 18 karat yellow gold and stainless steel model is the brand’s more sophisticated, from the Link series of watches.
Incorporating the sporting features you’d expect from Tag Heuer but integrated into a more refined experience.
Curved synthetic sapphire crystal, threaded crown/case back, solid link bracelet construction with locking buckle, luminous hands and markers, and a beautiful striped silvery/white tapestry dial.
Powering the watch is Tag Heuer’s Swiss-made 25 Calibre 5 movement features a day of the week display at 12:00 o’clock, and a day of the month display at 6:00 o’clock beautifully framed. The thoughtfully placed calendar showcases the watch’s perfect balance and symmetry. The quick beat (28,800 cycles per hour movement) is visible through the clear display window case back.
It is not the Sellita cloned movement that comes in most modern Tag Heuers, this one is the original ETA 2834-2. The watch was used as a reliable daily timekeeper for a client of ours for close to 10 years before it was recently traded in. It is displaying the expected degree of wear and tear appropriate for its age and is in very good overall condition.
The mechanically locking safety buckle integrates nicely into the bracelet link pattern; bracelet condition is excellent aside from light scuffs and scratches associated with use. It shows next to no sag and zero stretch.
The gold-capped trim sections on every link are fully intact, the solid 18 karat yellow gold bezel displays a few light scratches and minor dings but can easily be polished up like new while you wait. This watch only comes with our private label presentation box and is lacking original documents. The watch is running well and all functions are operating as designed. Included with purchase is a complimentary 1-year warranty. The watch is estate priced at $2,450.00 CAD. Stock #520-00038.
